A Gay Ass Reading of the flash game, “I Saw Her Standing there”

My game consoles exploded

So funny story I just bought this game on my switch called Promised Mascot Agency that from the discipciton seemed to ask the bold question, “What if Rodger Rabbit was about japense mascots? Was it that? Hell if I know! My Switch just stoped plugging into the TV and stoped turning on in general. Even worse, my discount steam deck stoped charging. When that happened I thought something to myself.  “I dont need no stinking tweezers to pull the ass golden diodes out and plug em back in. My Giant ass manly fingers will do!” So yeah, my portable steam deck was dead. Leaving me without any modern game consoles to use. That’s why I’ve been playing old games lately.

Nostalgia

Flash games and the websites that host them are an iconic part of 2000’s nostalgia. I remember not playing my Wii all too much due to seeing video games as a boys only thing. Yet flash games did not count strangely.

However most hardcore gamers dismissed flash games as well since they were short bite sized exisprences. I love these little gadgets. But inbetween your Hanna in a chopper’s and your Henry Stickmans thare were a few creators that tried to have a miniuteur story pairing with a breezy gaming experience.

One such game was I saw her standing there. A free flash game that’s still available on the Armor Games website.

Story and Gameplay

The game follows a man in love with a zombie. The goal is to get your canoodling cadaver in her cage without touching her. Our protagonist wanted to love her but keeps her in a cage. The cage represents hiding your gay affection away. It represents him shutting out his true nacher. The zombie would get out but recaptchering her is like a mischiefus game they play together. But there is a sense that this is an unfair relationship.

Gay ass game FTW

In act two we are introduced to other zombies. The protagonist dosnt love them at all. The other zombies represent people who don’t get gays. They are described as angry yet they stop when you are not in there line of sight and can keep watch on your undead girlfriend. This is similar to a puritanical, hardcore Christian communities. You know the ones. The ones that disavows anything out of the ordinary. And will try to “protect” there loved ones from the gay. The main charicter thinks mabey the other zombies are happy for there love so this could instead represent just anxiety about being judged by others

However at the end the zombie girl brakes through the cage and turns the protagonist into a zombie. Truly cementing the love for there girlfriend and the love for themselves and acceptance of who they are and who they love. And the two make pancakes and love throughout the extinction of the human race.

Bittersweet

Wile this gay love story has a happy ending, its kind of sad thinking about other gay ass flash games are forever that are gone due to flash being discontinued and were not saved to flash emulators. If there’s one thing to take away from this is to cherish the things you love.
