In 1983, Nintendo released the Nintendo Entertainment System. The music was all bit crushed and the graphics were pixelated. They released a much better gaming console in 1989 called the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The graphics have been expanded to be 16-bit and more instruments can be heard in the music. Their next console in 1996 was a major turning point in video game history since it turned most 2D platformers into 3D ones where the player can freely explore the world inside. They upgraded the graphics seen in the games in their 2001 console, GameCube. But the one you guys may have heard of the most is the Wii, released in 2004. Instead of generic Xbox like controllers, you now get controllers that function exactly like a TV remote. This is the console that also introduced motion controls for games where you have to move your controller around to interact with game features. The console was a success and they tried making a new model called the Wii U 8 years later, but it didn’t sell well. In addition to the home consoles, they released several handheld lines such as Game Boys,  DSes and Virtual Boys. In 2017, they created a console that combined both home and handheld into one, called the Nintendo Switch, and games are still being released on there to this day.
